I had a good teacher for the class in which this book was ...

There was very little in this book that is applicable to a high school Math teacher. I had a good teacher for the class in which this book was used, but I don't see why potential high school Math teachers should be lumped together with potential Kindergarten teachers in the same class! I am thoroughly disgusted with the alternate route program. I have a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and already passed Praxis. Yet I have to go back to school for over a year? I can't believe it. No wonder there is a demand for Math teachers. There should be a much briefer and easier way to bridge the gap between Education and non Education majors. So instead of spending my time honing my Math skills or making lesson plans as a new teacher, I'm going to be sidetracked with useless classes that require useless books like this.

Well worth the money

Although centered on elementary education, this book explains many of the idioms, and learning methods utilized in the education industry. Teaching literacy is a central topic of the book, and many of the methods described, can be put to good use at the middle or high school level.
